Vnish DevFee error and hotfix v1.2.6-rc3

Vnish firmwares recently experienced a devfee issue where certain models would disconnect from the Devfee server and some miners were unable to reconnect.

Vnish released a statement explaining the occurrence in greater detail:

❗️Important Update:

Over the past few days, we encountered a technical glitch affecting approximately 30% of our users. This issue was related to connecting firmware to DevFee servers. We've swiftly addressed the problem and would like to share the details of what occurred.

❓Why Did the DevFee Mining Issue Arise?

To ensure the security of our DevFee system, we utilize TLS connections between miners and our servers. Previously, due to potential time synchronization issues on the miners, we opted not to validate the validity period of certificates. Despite extensive testing under various conditions, including scenarios with expired certificates, a 2023 update to the TLS library unexpectedly broke backward compatibility by enforcing new certificate validity checks upon adding root certificates to the store. As a result, on January 1, 2025, an expired root certificate led to connectivity issues for about 30% of our users.

We quickly pinpointed the problem, adjusted the library code, and deployed a hotfix that reinstated connection stability.

🩸How Does the Fine System Operate?

To prevent firmware misuse, a 10% penalty is applied if DevFee servers are unavailable and a "debt" exists. This penalty involves "burning" a portion of the discovered shares that aren't allocated to either user or developer pools.

❗️Compensation for All Users

Although only 30% of our users were directly affected, we have decided to compensate all our users for any potential inconvenience. From January 6 12:00pm UTC to January 12 12:00 PM UTC, 2025, DevFee will be waived for all users. During this period, you can use our firmware absolutely free of charge!

🐞 Bug Fixes:
- Corrected network test failures upon network setting adjustments
- Fixed issues with cooling mode resets
- Resolved incorrect hashrate displays on chips when chip frequencies are reduced
- Addressed the issue of the dashboard unlocking multiple times

❗️We are committed to maintaining trust and transparency with our community. As a gesture of our commitment and to make amends for the recent service outage, starting Monday, January 6, 2025, we will temporarily reduce our development fee to the lowest possible rate. This reduction will last for several days and is intended to not only compensate for the lost revenue but also to offer additional relief for the inconvenience caused.

***If your machine was tuned prior to this update, rest assured that everything will continue to function smoothly However, if you tune the machine to a new setting that wasn’t previously adjusted, it may drift to a higher setting and power draw than intended This tuning engine update was still under development when this hotfix was released We anticipate releasing an updated version in the near future
